Welcome to the Author Gym Community

Inside the Author Gym you will sweat words. As with any gym, you will be given exercises to increase your fitness, your writing fitness. Your writing muscles will have more stamina, become stronger and more flexible.

There are structured exercises for each workout. They focus on a range of aspects. Some you will find more challenging than others. If you wish, feel free to share any feedback or comments to us. Even better, if you share some of your writing and writing experiences for others to enjoy. If you are worried about negative comments, we have no room for any nastiness here. Those writing it will be told to leave.

As you progress, you will lose any fear you may have of the dreaded blank page. We want you to kick writers block to the gutter.

Some of the words you sweat out may be the seed for a blockbuster novel. We hope so. That would be fabulous. Please let us know how you are going. Share those stories with our members.

What it’s all about

This image reflects the importance of having a notetaking system along with you. You never know when inspiration will hit.

The titles on each activity indicate the setting of the exercise. Ideally, try to visit similar settings in person, taking notetaking material with you.

The exercises are designed to demand a little more from your writing muscles as you move forward from one to twelve. Aim to do them with a good time gap between each (days or a week or two).

Complete the first six and you are on the way to beating writers block and strengthening your writing and creativity.
